Ambulances go by book

PATIENTS in the Lothians who have a medical condition or mobility need that requires ambulance transport to healthcare appointments will benefit from a new direct booking and management system to be introduced by the Scottish Ambulance Service (SAS).

Those requiring transportation can book an ambulance directly via a specialist SAS contact team in the East Ambulance Control Centre from October 22.

They will be able to talk to trained staff and request a transport to and from their appointment up to 28 days ahead by calling 0300 123 1236.
