Aitken tells of 'anger' over bus cutbacks

LABOUR councillor Ewan Aitken today warned that residents will be left without access to public transport if the route of a bus service in his ward is reduced.

Lothian Buses' number 12 service is due to be withdrawn between King's Road and Pirniefield as part of a series of cutbacks by the bus firm.

There is no other bus service on most of that section, and Fillyside and Seafield residents would be the most affected as a result of the move.

Cllr Aitken is to lodge a motion at next week's full council meeting. He said there was "grave concern and anger" among residents in Craigentinny.
