Airline adds more flights from Capital as Turkish city takes off
MORE direct flights between Edinburgh and the Turkish city of Dalaman are being launched due to overwhelming demand.
Low fares airline Flyglobespan said the new flights were a response to the growing popularity of Turkey as a tourist destination.
It will now fly twice weekly from Edinburgh – with Glasgow and Aberdeen also offering a weekly service.
The Edinburgh-based firm said it had seen a huge demand for holidays outwith the eurozone, with the increase partly attributed to favourable exchange rates.
CEO Rick Green said: "Uptake on the Turkey route has been excellent. So much so that we have already added flights to the programme before we even start it.
"I'm delighted to say, these launch flights are either full or almost full and advanced bookings are excellent.
"This isn't to say holidaymakers are deserting the eurozone holiday. We are still seeing huge interest for our traditionally-strong European resorts.
"But there is no doubt that other destinations like Turkey and Egypt have increased in popularity in today's exchange rate market. We will obviously monitor sales very closely."
