Adoption on the agenda

FAMILIES who can offer a home to vulnerable children in East Lothian are being urged to come forward.

Experts are hoping National Adoption Week, which begins on Monday, will inspire people to help children in need.

East Lothian Council’s Norma Godek said: “Lots of people can adopt so please don’t think we’ll turn you down because you’re over 40, single, or don’t own your own home.

“What we really need are people who can help a child recover from things that happened to them in the past and help them to thrive in a new family.”

Drop-in advice sessions will be held at Prestonpans Library on Monday from 10am until noon and 5pm to 7pm.
