Activist marks Women’s Day
A BEDOUIN women’s rights activist is to speak at the Scottish Parliament next month.
Hanan Alsaneh, 33, who works among Bedouin communities of Israel’s Negev, will address a conference at Holyrood on March 10 organised by the Scottish Women’s Convention to mark International Women’s Day.
Mrs Alsaneh is director of education and community building project Al Sidreh. She started a literacy programme which taught 1400 Bedouin women to read and write, and also set up the first women’s newspaper in the Negev region.
