A touch of Bollywood glamour lights up the streets of the capital's old town

SCOTLAND'S capital has become home to another major movie production – from India.

Edinburgh's historic Grassmarket provided the backdrop for the Bollywood film Mausam, which is being made by veteran star Pankaj Kapoor and will be starring his pin-up son Shahid.

He will play the lead role of an air force pilot who falls in love with a young woman in the movie.

Several days of filming around Scotland had been postponed due to disruption caused by the volcanic ash eruptions in Iceland.

Some 19 Indian feature films have been shot in Scotland over the past 13 years, although soaring costs have been blamed for a slump in recent years in favour of eastern European locations.

The most recent was The Purple Lake, which was filmed last year at Urquhart Castle and in Inverness.

Edinburgh's Old Town was home to several days of filming on major production Burke and Hare earlier this year.
