93 retired officers rejoin Lothian police
MORE than 90 police officers who have retired from the Lothian and Borders force are now working for it as a civilian staff member.
A total of 93 officers who completed their service in uniform have made the decision to return to work in a civilian role.
Three of the officers are earning as much as £43,000 for their civilian duties with the force, with the majority taking home salaries between £18,000 and £25,000.
The retired officers include a former chief superintendent, 14 inspectors, two detective superintendents, two chief inspectors, three detective inspectors and ten sergeants.
Another 56 of the officers had retired as police constables while three were detective constables.
The former officers work in a variety of civilian roles, including at the Force Communication Centre in Midlothian.
