£600k drugs pair jailed for six years
Two men caught in possession of more than £600,000 worth of amphetamine have been jailed for a total of six years.
Richard McCready, 28, from Motherwell and Marshall Mackenzie, 62, from Balloch both admitted to being involved in the supply of the drug between November 2011 and February this year. McCready was sentenced to three years and four months, and Mackenzie to two years and eight months.
Police also found cannabis plants and seedlings with a potential crop value of up to £65,790, a small quantity of amphetamine powder, cannabis resin and diazepam, when searching the men’s homes and vehicles.
Detective Chief Superintendent Athol Aitken said: “This was a significant recovery of illegal drugs that was stopped from reaching Scotland’s streets.”
