£5.3m EU boost for Scots projects
Fifteen Scots projects have won a total of £5.3 million in European funding for job creation and economic growth.
The schemes, in the Highlands and Islands, will share the money from the European Structural Fund, which boosts research, innovation, urban regeneration and rural development, and helps unemployed or economically inactive people upgrade their skills and prepare for work.
The biggest recipient was New Start Highland, which was awarded almost £1m to help 286 participants over three years. Comhairle nan Eilean Siar landed £99,400 for a Harris Tweed training and development programme to support 126 people.
