£25k of fake notes seized

POLICE seized nearly £25,000 in counterfeit cash in the Lothians over the last year, new figures have shown.

Officers recovered £23,369 in Edinburgh between April last year and March.

In Midlothian and East Lothian, another £445 in fake money was seized, while in West Lothian £976 in counterfeit currency was found.

In April, four people were charged after forged £20 notes were used to buy goods at a number of stores in Linlithgow, West Lothian.
