ABOUT 2,000 runners have taken part in a 10k race around Edinburgh, in which they faced a range of different obstacles as they dashed around the city.
When the starting gun fired, competitors had to leap over hay bales as they sprinted down the Royal Mile in an event called the “Braveheart Dash”.
They they had to face a range of obstacles around the city, including at Calton Hill.
The scenic route then took runners to the fringes of Holyrood Park and Arthur’s Seat, into the Old Town and through the Cowgate and Grassmarket.
They were eventually expected to scale an 8ft wall before crossing the finish line at the Ross Band Stand in Princes Street Gardens.
The race the competitors were taking part in is called “Men’s Health – Survival of the Fittest”.
Those who finished yesterday’s race were given a free drink in the beer tent in West Princes Street Gardens, with further events held afterwards.
