£800 fine for knocking off warden's hat
A MECHANICAL engineer who knocked a traffic warden's hat off after getting a ticket for parking on a single yellow line in the street where he lived has been fined £800.
John Page, 23, of Livingstone Place, Edinburgh, pled guilty at the city's Sheriff Court yesterday to assaulting Philip Vaughan on October 3, 2008.
Fiscal depute Dev Kapadia said all the parking bays in the street were occupied and Page had parked on a single yellow line next to a resident's bay. Two parking attendants had ticketed his car and after arguing with them, Page knocked off Mr Vaughan's hat. There was a struggle and both men fell to the ground.
Page, he added, had contacted the police the following day, apologising for his actions.
