£50,000 boost in cancer funds

CITY fundraisers have raised up to £50,000 for a debut event by Breast Cancer Campaign.

The Paint the Town Pink event, which was launched at the beginning of October to tie in with Breast Cancer Awareness Month, saw various tourist attractions, businesses, groups, and individuals hold pink fundraising events to raise money for the charity.

Deep Sea World featured "Scare it Pink" sponsored shark dives as well as two pink fundraising days on 30 and 31 October. Gracemount Leisure Centre took part by collecting donations from fitness classes, a lucky dip and a raffle.

Breast Cancer Campaign's volunteers are now planning a coffee morning for next Saturday.
