University team shows electric vehicles on right road
RESEARCH by academics at Edinburgh Napier University has shown that the use of electric vehicles has the potential to reduce CO2 emissions by almost 70 per cent.
The university's Transport Research Institute compared the results of using a medium sized petrol car for a typical urban driving route with using an electrical scooter.
Professor of energy engineering at Edinburgh Napier University, Tariq Muneer, said: "CO2 emissions from the transport sector in the UK are increasing at an alarming rate, despite the introduction of tougher and more demanding regulations.
"Our research is looking at the potential to reduce pollution by using more sustainable forms of urban transport."
