Award for city businesswoman

BUSINESSWOMAN Gill Eastgate has beaten the competition to win a prestigious award.

The director of Edinburgh-based NKD Clothing beat six other finalists and impressed celebrity judge and fellow Edinburgh entrepreneur, Shaf Rasul from the online Dragon's Den to take the Scottish JCI Creative Young Entrepreneur Award which secures her a place in the international final.

Ms Eastgate said: "I'm absolutely delighted that the business has been recognised in such a wonderful way.

"For NKD Clothing to be even nominated for an award of this magnitude is very pleasing, to win is a phenomenal achievement."

Since taking over the company in 2005, Ms Eastgate has doubled the company's profits to 1.3 million and has secured its place as one of the UK's leading provider of bespoke corporate uniforms.

She now goes on to compete at the international stage of the competition later this year in Tunisia. Ms Eastgate follows in the footsteps of lingerie tycoon Michelle Mone who won the award in 2006.
