Scottish BAFTAs: Stars of In the Loop and Dr Who up for film and TV awards
POLITICAL satire In the Loop has been nominated in three categories for the Scottish BAFTA awards, as the shortlist was announced today.
The films's writer/director Armando Ianucci was nominated in two categories, while its star Peter Capaldi, who plays the firey spin-doctor Malcolm Tucker, is up for the film acting award.
David Tennant received a nomination in the TV category for Dr Who, and is up against Robert Carlyle for Cracked and Bill Paterson for Spanish Flu – The Forgotten Fallen.
Holby City star Stella Gonet, Daniella Nardini (New Town) and Lindsay Duncan (Margaret) will compete for the best TV female actor.
Scotland's renowned multimedia industry saw Championship Manager 2010 Express receive a nomination in the Game category, taking on Low Grav Racer and Flock.
This year, for the first time, there are three distinct digital media awards to recognise the increasing contribution played by Scotland's games, web and interactive markets to the nation's moving image industries.
Helen Anderson, Director of BAFTA Scotland said: "The sheer volume of films, TV and games produced in Scotland this year is staggering – a real testament to Scotland's burgeoning industry. There is some inspiring talent both in front of and behind the camera. I'm looking forward to next month's ceremony and announcing our winners."
The awards take place at Glasgow's Science Centre on Sunday 8th November.
