Scotsman Publications journalists in running for 22 awards
SCOTSMAN Publications is leading the charge at this year's Scottish Press Awards with 22 shortlisted entries.
Political editor Eddie Barnes has been nominated for political journalist of the year.
The Scotsman's Alice Wyllie is shortlisted for young journalist of the year and Jane Barlow for news photographer of the year.
Stephen Emerson, David Maddox and Nick Mitchell are all shortlisted in the multimedia journalist of the year category. Claire Black is nominated in the arts/entertainment category.
Scotland on Sunday's Peter Ross is nominated for feature writer of the year, and also joins the newspaper's Catherine Deveney on the magazine writer shortlist.
Tom English and Kenny Farquharson of Scotland on Sunday are nominated for columnist of the year, and the newspaper's Aidan Smith is shortlisted for arts/entertainment journalist.
English joins colleagues Richard Bath and Paul Forsyth on the shortlist for sports feature writer of the year.
Victoria Raimes of the Edinburgh Evening News is nominated for scoop of the year for her story about a pensioner whose body lay undiscovered for up to five years. She is also nominated for young journalist of the year.
The Edinburgh Evening News is nominated in the front page and journalist team categories. Brian Adcock of Scotland on Sunday and Frank Boyle of the Edinburgh Evening News are shortlisted for cartoonist of the year.
Last year, The Scotsman won the journalist of the year, financial journalist of the year, scoop of the year, Gaelic journalist of the year and sports photographer of the year titles. The Scotsman also won campaign of the year for "HBOS – The Questions That Must Be Answered".
This year's ceremony will take place in Glasgow on 22 April.
