Scots want bosses to offer help for stress
TWO-thirds of Scots want their employer to provide a confidential counselling service to help them deal with workplace stress and the effects of the recession.
The British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy's (BACP) survey of 1,440 people across the UK found 67 per cent of people in Scotland wanted counselling sessions to cope with their jobs.
The survey also revealed that 37 per cent of Scots want their employer to provide them with more emotional support to tackle stress in the workplace, whether that is caused by work, personal problems, or a combination of both.
BACP said the desire for more support seemed to stem largely from the belief among 80 per cent of respondents in Scotland that the recession had made it more likely that people needed counselling and psychotherapy.
