Scots oil worker killed in Qatar car crash

A SCOTTISH oil company executive has been killed in a car crash in the Middle East in which his best friend was seriously injured.

Scott MacRae, 41, a father of two originally from Ellon in Aberdeenshire, was killed in Qatar on Saturday after the car in which he and Steve Grayson were travelling crashed in a one-vehicle accident.

Mr Grayson, from London, was seriously injured in the crash and remains in intensive care at a hospital in Doha.

Mr MacRae, who had been working in the Middle East for the past 13 years, is survived by his wife Gail, and daughters Natalie, 19, and Lisa, 18.

Mrs MacRae said: "Scott was loving life and doing well in his job. He was the type of person everyone loved in an instant once they'd met him."

Mr MacRae's funeral will be held at St Mary's on the Rock Church in Ellon on 3 May.
