Scots music stars set for Homecoming gigs

HUNDREDS of free traditional music sessions are to take place across Scotland, as part of the Homecoming celebrations.

About 30 venues from the Borders to the Highlands and Islands are expected to take part in the "Homecoming Sessions", which are being held from this month until November.

Seven pubs have already been selected for the 45,000 initiative and will play host to some 16 sessions each. Veteran accordionist Phil Cunningham, the former Runrig singer Donnie Munro and Sheena Wellington, the singer who wowed the public at the opening of the Scottish Parliament, are backing the venture.
