Ice Hockey: Capitals take Hart from coach appointment

Edinburgh Capitals today confirmed that Richard Hartmann will be the club’s player/coach this season.

Hartmann has a wealth of experience from the Slovakian Extraliga and has helped out with coaching in the past. He is looking to develop his coaching skills and will be supported by Scott Neil and Jock Hay.

Hartmann will be the Capitals’ first European coach and this will introduce a new style of play for the team.

Neil, who doubles as Capitals general manager, said: “Richard has a huge amount of experience and has played at a consistently high level in one of the best leagues in Europe.

“He has been taught and educated to play in a technical league and I’m sure he will bring a wealth of knowledge and new skills to the club.”
