A MAN has been arrested in connection with the suspected release of tear gas in a Jobcentre branch in central Dundee.

Three women complained of breathing difficulties in the job centre at Wellgate shopping centre, Dundee, at about 1.20pm yesterday. Two of the women were taken by ambulance to the city’s Ninewells Hospital.

A spokesman for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: “There appears to be a small amount of CS gas released by an individual in the vicinity of the lift area.”

A 31-year-old man has been arrested and charged over the incident and will appear at Dundee Sheriff Court later today, police said.

The job centre was evacuated during the incident but the shopping centre remained open.
