POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a 63-year-old woman was attacked as she walked along a footpath in Livingston.

She was pushed from behind and held on the ground while her attacker searched her jacket pockets before making off empty-handed.

The incident happened around 4.30pm on Sunday 23rd December on a footpath to the rear of Easter Bankton.

A police spokesman said: “The woman was not seriously injured as a result of this attack, but was understandably left incredibly shaken as a result.

“The woman did not see her attacker at any point and so at this time we have no description of the suspect.

“However, given the time of day this incident occurred and the area being popular with dog walkers , there were potentially a number of witnesses, who may have witnessed this incident.” Anyone with information can contact Lothian and Borders Police on 0131 311 3131, or the charity Crimestoppers in complete anonymity on 0800 555 111.
