Police are issuing a home security warning to the public in East and Midlothian following a series of housebreakings in both counties.
Since the beginning of October, officers have observed an increase in the number of properties being broken into and are keen to ensure homeowners are taking the appropriate steps to protect their homes.
Addresses in Pathhead, Port Seton, Haddington, Dirleton and Dunbar have recently been targeted, resulting in various items including electrical equipment, jewellery and cash being stolen from inside.
Police are now urging extra vigilance from local communities as we enter the festive season.
A police spokesman said: “Anyone who can assist us with our inquiries to trace those responsible is asked to contact police immediately.”
