Health partners to improve falls service

A NEW service enabling people who have suffered a fall to get back on their feet more quickly has been launched in Mid-lothian.

Working in partnership, Midlothian Council, NHS Lothian and NHS 24 have developed a new referrals
system for the existing Rapid Response falls service.

It will provide help and reassurance to those who have been injured in a fall but do not require hospital treatment.

Rapid Response runs a 24-hour on-call service which responds to falls, alarm calls and GP referrals.
Councillor Catherine Johnstone, cabinet member for health and social care, said: “Nobody wants a fall, especially at this time of year, but the new strand to this vital service means that more people can avoid a trip to hospital.”
