Fines for ‘polar bear’ protesters

Environmentalists who wore polar bear costumes in a protest that closed a petrol station have been fined.

Seven people were arrested after they seized control of a Shell garage in Dalry Road, Edinburgh, in July 2011. Sheriff Isabella McColl yesterday fined them £200 each and ordered the protest organiser to pay £300 to the garage operator.
