A CYCLIST was killed in a collision with a car outside Edinburgh last night.

Police said the 46-year-old man died in the crash on the B7003 in Roslin Glen, between Roslin and Rosewell, Midlothian, at about 5.35pm today.

He was cycling south when he collided with a north-bound silver Renault Megane Scenic.

The woman driver, who was injured when her car left the road and travelled down an embankment, was taken to hospital.

The road was closed for five hours.

Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101.
