Cautionary tale after school’s drug scare

parents have been urged to be more vigilant and keep prescription medication away from their
children.

John McNeil, Labour councillor for Musselburgh West, made the plea after two girls who took prescription drugs at Musselburgh Grammar School were taken to hospital on Wednesday.

An ambulance was called to the school and the pupils were checked over.

Two parents decided to take their daughters to the Sick Kids and they were later released.

Mr McNeil said: “Youngsters at school age always want to be mischievous but this is a wee bit more serious and scary because it could’ve been anything.”

Lothian and Borders Police are investigating the incident.
