Campaign to target people living off proceeds of crime

A CAMPAIGN targeting people who fund their lifestyles through the proceeds of crime is being rolled out across West Lothian.

The Made from Crime? initiative aims to encourage residents to tell police about
suspected criminals.

A 20-foot high advertising trailer will be on display outside the Centre shopping outlet in Livingston throughout the week. There will also be posters, postcards and vinyls on display in busy areas across West Lothian to encourage local residents to come
forward, and people will be able to report concerns online through Facebook.

Detective Inspector John Wyllie said “This campaign sends out a strong message that Lothian and Borders Police will not tolerate criminals profiting from crime in West Lothian.

“Those criminals flashing their gains have undoubtedly harmed others in the process, be it through acts of violence, drug dealing, prostitution, or money laundering, and we know the negative impact this has on local communities.”
