Scotland's TV deficit
By comparing Scotland to Ireland and Scandinavia, George Kerevan (Debate & Opinion, 11 September) eloquently highlights the huge broadcasting deficit that exists for Scottish television programme-makers.
The proposed Scottish digital channel, which should be funded from the billions the UK government will receive from the sale of the digital spectrum, is to be welcomed but the Broadcasting Commission failed to come up with an acceptable solution to the Scottish Six issue and lacked the guts to give the Scottish Parliament an overview of broadcasting in Scotland.
For example, earlier this week, a lengthy report on the England football team's trip to Croatia on BBC's national "flagship" 6pm news bulletin failed even to mention any of the other UK countries playing at the same time.
We have London-centric news and current affairs from the BBC's flagship programmes and this is why we need a Scottish Six and Question Time on BBC's "flagship" channel rather than hidden away on a new digital channel.
