Scotland on Sunday writers receive 11 nominations for Press Awards

SCOTLAND on Sunday journalists have picked up 11 nominations for this year's Scottish Press Awards.

Eddie Barnes, the newspaper's political editor, has been nominated for political journalist of the year.

Peter Ross is nominated for the feature writer of the year award, and also joins the newspaper's Catherine Deveney on the magazine writer shortlist.

Sports writer Tom English and political commentator Kenny Farquharson are nominated for columnist of the year, and both Aidan Smith and Claire Black are shortlisted for arts/entertainment journalist.

Richard Bath and Paul Forsyth have been shortlisted for sports feature writer of the year but face competition from English, who has already won the accolade three years in a row.

Brian Adcock completes the nominations list in the cartoonist of the year category.

Scotland on Sunday's sister paper The Scotsman has picked up six nominations and our other stablemate, the Edinburgh Evening News, five.
