Scot will lead men's finalists on to Centre Court
A FORMER RAF clerk from East Lothian will be leading the finalists on to Centre Court at Wimbledon tomorrow.
Douglas Dixon, 53, from Tranent, was chosen for the annual job, which includes carrying out the racquet bags, following the retirement of his predecessor.
The grandfather, who now lives in Lincoln, became the head changing-room attendant last summer after working as a temporary staff member since 1969.
Also a qualified physiotherapist, Mr Dixon was Davis Cup team manager for South Africa between 1996 and 1999.
Mr Dixon, who returns to Scotland eight times a year, is the successor of Gil Maher who retired from the role, which is 120 years old, last year at 65 after eight years in the post.
Mr Dixon said: "It’s an honour to be carrying on this tradition."
