School worker in custody over boys' sex acts on web

A MALE school support worker was remanded in custody yesterday after appearing in court charged with setting up a Bebo site posing as a 13-year-old girl and enticing teenage boys to perform sex acts for him on a webcam.

Brian Syme who was dismissed on Friday by Clackmannanshire Council, made no plea or declaration when he appeared on petition at Alloa Sheriff Court.

He faces 21 charges including four of lewd and libidinous practices and behaviour and seven of engaging in sexual acts with young persons

The charges allege that Syme encouraged a number of boys to perform solo sex acts while on Bebo. Some filmed themselves using webcams; it is allleged that all were acting in the belief that they were engaging in internet sex with a 13-year-old girl, not a 31-year-old man.

The boys involved are understood to come from both the Clackmannanshire area, and elsewhere in Scotland, and are being offered psychological counselling.
