School's out for Sarajevo visitors
TEACHERS from a war-torn city have visited West Lothian to learn about the development of children with complex learning difficulties.
Two teachers from Sarajevo met workers at St John's Hospital and Beatlie School to see methods used with speech therapy and communication.
Amela Ovcina and Erisa Mrkonjic from the Christine Witcutt Centre in the city wanted to take back methods used with children with conditions such as autism. Catherine Gorry, speech and language therapy manager for paediatrics at St John's, said: "The visitors were inspired by what they had seen."
