Salmond fury at ferry fares claim
FIRST Minister Alex Salmond has been accused of "bribing" SNP-supporting islanders with ferry fare concessions while prices rise elsewhere.
It was announced this week that tickets on Clyde and Hebridean routes are to increase by 2 per cent, affecting Caledonian MacBrayne sailings.
But a pilot scheme for ferries servicing the Western Isles, represented by SNP MSP Alasdair Allan, means passengers do not pay any more for the journey than it would cost by car.
Lib Dem leader Tavish Scott's remarks were branded "shameful" by Mr Salmond.
