CAN Group has won a £90 million contract to inspect North Sea oil rigs for Talisman Sinopec, while fellow Aberdeen-based outfit Craig Group has placed a £70m order for six emergency response vessels.
Talisman’s five-year deal covers 11 platforms – including some of the oldest in British waters, such as the Claymore, Fulmar and Montrose installations – along with the company’s Flotta oil terminal on Orkney.
Can Group operations director Adam Byrne said: “This contract builds on a long relationship, which began with the company in 2001.”
Meanwhile, Craig Group has ordered the six ships, which will be used to replace some of its existing craft, from the Balenciaga shipyard in Northern Spain.
More than 160 seafarers’ jobs will be secured as part of the new-build scheme, which has seen in excess of £230m invested and 22 vessels commissioned since 2003, the company said.
