Safety fears fuelling rise in childhood obesity rates

PARENTS' fears about letting their children out to play are fuelling Britain's childhood obesity problem, research found today.

A poll of more than 2000 adults found many parents believe too much television and time spent on the computer, together with a lack of healthy food, is adding to the problem.

Child psychologist Dr Richard Woolfson said: "All that parents need to do is to arrange for their child to have a few more minutes of exercise each day."
