Runners go the extra mile in Chris Hoy race
ALMOST 3500 people took to the streets of the Capital yesterday for the Chris Hoy Edinburgh Half Marathon.
The event followed a new route from Meadowbank Stadium, via Portobello and Prestonpans, finishing at Musselburgh Racecourse.
Olympic hero Hoy drove from his home in Manchester to give out the prizes.
Race director John Martindale said the event was the second biggest in the country.
The race was won by Robert Turner of Edinburgh-based Harmeny Athletics Club. Fastest woman was Toni McIntosh of Stirling University.
