Rugby club to convert Potter books into cash
A RARE collection of signed Harry Potter books is to be auctioned to raise funds for a city rugby club.
Proceeds from the sale of the seven-book set, which has been donated by author JK Rowling, will help fund the restoration of Portobello Rugby Club's clubhouse, which was burned down by vandals.
It is the latest set of the best-selling Harry Potter books to be put up for auction by the Merchiston-based writer following the record sale of her Beedle and the Bard fairy tales, which sold for 1.95 million last month. The complete set of Harry Potter books will be auctioned at Lyon & Turnbull's rare books and manuscripts sale at Broughton Place on January 16.
Experts say the books could fetch as much as 3000.
