Royal Highland Show: How to get there
THE Royal Highland Show takes place on the outskirts of west Edinburgh. There are a number of ways that can get you to the showground.
BY CAR
If you are driving, simply follow the AA signs posted on the major roads. Drivers should not use SatNav for the route but follow AA signs which will lead you to the RHS. There may be heavy traffic but remember to be patient as a high number of police are on duty whose aim is to keep the traffic flowing.
BY BUS
From Edinburgh: Lothian Buses operate between city centre and the showground almost every ten minutes during the show. Service number 98 will pick up at St Andrew Square, Shandwick Place, Haymarket and then numerous stops en route. For timetable and fares call 0131 555 6363. Contact FirstBus Edinburgh on 08708 727271 or visit www.firstgroup.com
From Inverkeithing Train Station/ Ferrytoll: The frequent Stagecoach Jet747 bus service from Fife to Edinburgh airport passes by the showground. Alight at the bus stop by Ingliston Road where there is a pedestrian entrance to the show. Take the same bus to return as it drops by the airport before it heads to Ferrytoll Park and Ride and Inverkeithing Train Station.
From Glasgow and other areas: Scottish Citylink operates direct buses. Contact it on 08705 505050 or visit www.citylink.co.uk
BY AIR
Taking a flight is actually a quick and easy way to get to the showground. The RHS is just a ten-minute walk from Edinburgh Airport and there are more than 150 flights connecting Edinburgh to the rest of the UK and Europe every day.
BY TRAIN
The nearest railway station is Edinburgh Haymarket from which you can take the direct bus service to the showground, with a similar service operating from Edinburgh Waverley.
