Royal plans ready by end of the year

DETAILED plans for the reprovision of the Royal Victoria Hospital will be finalised and submitted for approval by the end of the year.

Health chiefs are currently drawing up plans and hope to submit the business case to the Scottish Government before 2010, with the outline case being approved last June.

The cost and designs of the project will be included in the submission, as well as detailed information on how the new service will be delivered once the current Craigleith hospital closes.

It is hoped the new hospital will be up and running by early 2012.
