Celtic, barring any unprecedented late collapse against Linfield, will face Rosenborg in the third round of Champions League qualifying.
The Norwegian champions defeated Irish side Dundalk to reach the next stage of the competition. They were made to work for their victory as an extra-time goal from Matthías Vilhjálmsson eventually settled a tense and closely fought tie.
Following a 1-1 draw in Ireland, Dundalk had put themselves into pole position when Brian Gartland gave them a 12th minute lead at the Lerkendal Stadion.
Yann-Erik de Lanlay levelled for the hosts just before the half and with no further goals in the 90 minutes, the match moved into extra-time where Vilhjálmsson’s goal separated the sides once and for all.
The first leg will take place at Celtic Park on Tuesday 25 July before the return fixture in Norway seven days later.
