Roller assault claim 'is a lie'
FORMER Bay City Roller Les McKeown claimed two men who beat him unconscious in a pub lied about being attacked with a spanner to justify the assault.
Snaresbrook Crown Court has heard the singer was left needing dentures by Ian Young, 59, and son Darren, 22, on March 4, 2007.
In court Mr McKeown said: "I was under the impression it (the wrench] was made up to cause some sort of smoke screen."
Ian and Darren Young, both of Monteagle Way, Clapton, deny causing grievous bodily harm with intent, a lesser alternative of actual bodily harm and racially aggravated actual bodily harm.
The trial continues.
