Roller Nobby honoured for green work
FORMER Bay City Rollers frontman Nobby Clark and a group of environmental campaigners have received an award at the House of Lords for sprucing up a city housing estate.
Dumbiedykes residents received funding from the city council to renew street lights, build new fences, plant trees and attend gardening classes.
Their hard work was recognised by the British Urban Regeneration Association at the award ceremony last Friday.
Mr Clark, the original singer with the 1970s group, began the work after moving to the area five years ago.
The 57-year-old, who is chairman of the Dumbiedykes Environmental Group, said: "I moved there and had the horrible feeling people were living behind their doors, afraid to go out."
