Power upped in Brae fight

MEMBERS of a protest group campaigning against the planned closure of a secondary school have sent a PowerPoint presentation to all city
councillors.

Council chiefs approved plans to consult on the closure of Castlebrae Community High School in October following a declining school roll and poor exam results.

The presentation from campaign group Save the Brae highlights why it thinks a new school is needed in Craigmillar.

Kevin Finlay, chairman of Save the Brae, said: “The city has run out of public money to build houses. The private sector need to get building again.

“But why would families buy here if there’s no high school to send their kids to? There will be three primary schools but no secondary if the council closes Castlebrae.”
