Robbie Williams hopes reality will keep him back for good

FORMER Take That star Robbie Williams is to attempt a comeback in the autumn – after more than two and a half years away from the charts.

The multi-million-selling singer will unveil a new single and album in October and November respectively.

He famously walked away from Take That in 1995, a year before the band broke up, only for them to launch their own revival ten years later in the wake of a TV documentary.

His old bandmates have since sold more than six million albums, scored number-one hits with Patience and Shine and played huge sell-out tours.

After leaving Take That, Williams enjoyed huge success as solo artist. He has notched up six No 1 singles, every one of his UK studio albums has reached No 1 in the charts and he has sold 55 million records around the world.

Williams has not released a single since She's Madonna in March 2007 or an album since Rudebox, in October 2006, which was widely seen as a flop, with sales outstripped by Take That's comeback album, Beautiful World.

His new single, Bodies, will be available for download on 11 October and in the shops a day later, with his album, Reality Killed The Video Star, out on 9 November.

The new single and album were both produced by Trevor Horn, the legendary producer who was one half of electro-pop duo the Buggles. They were behind number one hit Video Killed The Radio Star – the first song ever played on MTV – and the inspiration for the title of Williams' new album.
