Risk warning for meningitis
THE risk of infection from meningitis is set to rise over the coming month, a national health agency has warned.
Health Protection Scotland said research from previous years indicated once the influenza season was in full swing, cases of meningitis tended to rise.
Clinicians and health workers across the Lothians have been urged to consider meningitis more readily than they would at other times of the year.
The Scottish Government and NHS are in the midst of an awareness campaign of the potentially lethal infection.
