Richey cleared of bat attack on son
FORMER Death Row inmate Kenny Richey has been cleared of battering his son with a baseball bat after his family refused to testify against him, it was reported today.
The 46-year-old, who spent 21 years awaiting execution in Ohio until his release in 2008, was arrested after an alleged drunken fight with son Sean at their home in America a year ago.
But when Sean, 25, and his mum Wendy Amerud, 52, refused to give evidence, the charge was dropped, along with an allegation that Richey threatened the policewoman who arrested him.
Richey, originally from Edinburgh, heard the decision at the district court in Brainerd, Minnesota, on Wednesday.
He said: "I'm glad it's all over, it's been a pain. This is a good start to the year."
