Richard Moore nominated for book award
THE William Hill Sports Book of the Year Award have announced the longlist for this year’s prize. Included in the final 14 contenders is The Dirtiest Race in History – Ben Johnson, Carl Lewis and the 1988 Olympic 100m Final, written by Scotsman contributor Richard Moore.
Through a series of interviews, the book examines one of the biggest controversies in sport. Moore faces stiff competition, with two-time winners Duncan Hamilton and Donald Macrae in consideration once again. Macrae is co-writer of Olympic cyclist Victoria Pendleton’s autobiography Between The Lines, while in The Footballer Who Could Fly Hamilton gives his insight into some of football’s greatest players while recalling the relationship with his father.
The winner of the award receives £24,000. The shortlist will be revealed on 26 October while the winner will be announced a month later.
