Revealed: The fresh new face of Scottish fashion – aged just 15

THE tumbling dark locks and piercing eyes of this striking teenager are about to become the envy of every follower of fashion across Scotland.

For 15-year-old Christina Chalk, from Dunblane, was crowned Scotland's New Face 2009 at last night's Scottish Fashion Awards.

Other winners of the night, billed as the Oscars of Scottish fashion, included Holly Fulton, who was named Scottish Young Designer of the Year, and Graeme Black, who scooped the coveted Scottish Designer of the Year.

It was also a good night for Harris Tweed, which was awarded the title Scottish Textile Brand of the Year.

Fashionistas from around the world stepped out on a glittering sliver and red tartan carpet when they arrived at Stirling Castle for the event. Designer Paul Smith, punk diva Siouxsie Sioux and fashion icon Pam Hogg were just a few of the celebrities invited to the prestigious evening called Catwalk Caledonia.

Some of the industry's biggest names flew into Glasgow Airport from Paris, New York, Los Angeles, Milan and London. The glamorous guestlist also included supermodel Jade Parfitt, television presenter Jenni Falconer, TV personality Nick Ede and model Lisa Butcher.

The VIPs had been given glistening jewels, clutch bags and sparkling timepieces, courtesy of jeweller Swarovski, to wear at the event.

The awards ceremony, which was held in association with Vogue.com, was hosted by Louise Roe, fashion correspondent on GMTV and Vogue USA.

After the awards, VIP guests were piped by the ScottishPower Pipe band from the castle's courtyard to a lavish gala dinner.

The meal, prepared by Scottish celebrity chef Nick Nairn, included roast lamb, smoked salmon and Mansard Champagne. Guests then headed to the 700-year-old Chapel Royal – the venue for Mary Queen of Scots' coronation in 1543 - which had been transformed into a night club.

Tessa Hartmann, founder and producer of the event, said: " To have so many successful designers, fashion editors, photographers, supermodels and personalities gather from around the world take to the tartan red carpet at the majestic Stirling Castle is such a thrill."

The winners were selected by a judging panel including Dolly Jones, editor of vogue.com, Scottish model Kirsty Hume and Brigitte Stepputtins, head of couture at Vivienne Westwood.
